February has been a month full of excitement and hands-on learning! Each classroom fully embraced the theme of Community Helpers, transforming their environments and activities to reflect key roles and places in our community. Through purposeful role-playing, students stepped into the shoes of various community helpers, creating an immersive learning experience.
Our youngest learners explored the role of veterinarians, treating animals in their very own Vet Clinic. The Wellness Clinic was a popular spot for quick check-ups, eye exams, and the occasional X-ray. The Farm came alive with barn animals, and the “Germination Station” allowed students to plant beans and observe the life cycle. PK 3 classrooms turned into a construction site and a chef’s culinary kitchen, while PK 4 focused on the fire department and police stations, helping students better understand these vital professions. The art room became a lively flower shop, and the kinesthetics team set up a hands-on car wash for all to enjoy. Our community even had its very own mayor—Ms. Jimena—who brought the city to life!
Throughout the month, these activities gave students a deeper understanding of how community helpers serve society, reinforcing key literacy, math, science, and social studies skills.
We were also lucky to welcome several special visitors to our campus. Construction workers brought their boom truck for students to explore, while Miami firefighters arrived in their fire truck to share their tools and expertise. Additionally, a police officer from our local department brought her police horse, captivating students with a real-life example of community service.
A major highlight of the month was celebrating our 100th Day of School! Students proudly wore their 100th Day-themed t-shirts and participated in special activities that allowed them to reflect on all they’ve learned and accomplished. What a milestone!
Valentine’s Day was a celebration of kindness and gratitude. Inspired by the beloved story The Giving Tree, our students decided to GIVE LOVE to our garden. Students contributed class-level stepping stones and added ribbons to our wishing trees with so much love and intention for our beloved garden. These activities helped our children connect with love, generosity, and giving themes.
We look forward to March!
