VAFTDC Debate Coach of the Year in 2016
Coach Todd came to Centner Academy in 2024 after spending nearly two decades teaching History courses and coaching Speech and Debate at the high school level in Texas and in Virginia. While in Virginia, his high school team went on to win multiple state championships and qualified dozens of students to NSDA and NCFL national tournaments leading to Coach Todd being recognized as the VAFTDC Debate Coach of the Year in 2016. Coach Todd then found success coaching in Dallas, TX where his students went on to compete and show success on the national circuit earning multiple TOC and NIETOC bids.

Our team continues to attract new members throughout the year with over 20 students competing at the Middle School level and a dedicated core group of students routinely competing at the High School level.
Our Middle School team continuously takes home multiple trophies at Middle School tournaments competing in events such as Public Forum, Congressional Debate, Dramatic Performance, Informative Speaking, Program Oral Interp, Extemporaneous, Impromptu and Declamation.
After school practice sessions are held almost daily to help both MS and HS students prepare for upcoming tournaments.
