Our 2nd Grade students have been exploring interdependent relationships within ecosystems through a variety of engaging activities. They’ve experienced the full cycle of plant growth, from germination to harvest, and are now diving into the crucial process of pollination. This week’s highlight was hand-pollinating firebush and wildflowers. The students also made an interesting discovery about our pumpkin plants – currently, only male flowers are present! This sparked a great discussion about the different roles of flowers in plant reproduction and reinforced the importance of observation in science. These discoveries are being documented in their science journals, creating a lasting record of their learning journey.
