Attention all Centner Elementary parents and community members! Our fourth graders in Mr. Peter’s Entrepreneur class have been working hard on an exciting project that not only teaches them about environmentally friendly and ethical green companies, but also the impact that human waste and chemicals have on our planet. They have been learning about how people once made their own products before becoming consumers and purchasing harsh-chemical products.
As part of this project, the students were introduced to the science behind castile soap, essential oils, and herbology. They were able to see firsthand how the process of making soap can be both educational and environmentally friendly. Each student got to measure the volume of filtered water and added a mixture of castile soap, essential oils, and picked eucalyptus and lavender springs to create their own unique soap.
The class also tested the efficiency of their creations to ensure their product met standards. They learned about the importance of testing and quality control in ensuring that the final product is safe and effective for use. This activity not only helped students understand the science behind making soap but also helped them develop critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
At Centner Elementary, we are committed to whole-child development through the use of non-chemical, organic, and GMO-free products. We believe that by exposing students to these types of products, we are not only helping them to learn about the importance of taking care of our environment, but we are also helping them to make informed choices about the products they use in their daily lives.
We are thrilled to announce that our fourth graders’ soaps will soon be piloted in wash areas around campus! This is a great opportunity for the students to see their creations being used by the community and to see the impact of their hard work. Keep an eye out for these environmentally friendly soaps made by our very own students. They are so excited to share their creations with the community and to see the positive impact that their hard work can have on the environment. We are proud of their commitment to making the world a better place, one soap at a time!
