Job Description
Centner Academy seeks an innovative High School Economics Teacher to engage students in real-world economic principles through an entrepreneurial and inquiry-based approach. The ideal candidate will integrate financial literacy, economic simulations, and technology-driven instruction to enhance student learning.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and implement rigorous, engaging lesson plans in Microeconomics, Macroeconomics, and Personal Finance, incorporating real-world applications and case studies.
- Foster a collaborative and inquiry-driven classroom where students develop critical thinking, problem-solving, and financial literacy skills.
- Use a variety of teaching methods and resources, including technology, to accommodate diverse learning styles.
- Evaluate and monitor student progress through assignments, projects, quizzes, and exams.
- Provide feedback and support to students to help them improve academically and personally.
- Stay informed on economic trends and integrate current events, financial literacy, and market analysis into instruction.
- Collaborate with other faculty members and participate in staff meetings and professional development.
- Encourage critical thinking and problem-solving through discussions, case studies, and current events.
- Support school-wide events, extracurricular activities, and initiatives as needed.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Economics, Education, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred).
- Teaching certification for the state/region (or willingness to obtain certification).
- Deep knowledge of Microeconomics, Macroeconomics, and Personal Finance with real-world applications.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills.
- Passion for teaching and mentoring students.
- Ability to create an inclusive and engaging learning environment.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience teaching economics at the high school level.
- Familiarity with financial literacy and its integration into an economics curriculum.
- Proficiency in using educational technology and tools.
- Strong classroom management skills.
Work Environment:
- Dynamic classroom environment emphasizing project-based learning, real-world economic simulations, and cross-curricular collaboration.
- Teachers are expected to actively engage in school events, student mentorship, and professional development.
